Top Seeds Advance in EFA Semifinals
The top two seeds in the EFA Semifinals took care of business, as the New York Bandits and Paterson Gravediggerz have punched their ticket to the EFA Season VII Championship, both making their first appearance in the chip.
The top-seeded Bandits (7-1) used a strong first half, scoring touchdowns on their first four possessions to take a 26-0 lead at intermission, three of them off the arm of quarterback David Ugarte. The Bandits added another touchdown on their first drive of the second half to officially shut the door, while the Demon Knights were eventually able to break up the shutout courtesy of a defensive touchdown at the close of the third quarter.
The Gravediggerz had to sweat their game out against a fiesty New York Dolphins team, scoring late in the game to officially take their game, 16-8. It was the Gravediggerz' third win over the Dolphins this season, but this one was certainly the closest of the three. The Dolphins finish their season at 6-3.
So, the Final is now set. The Bandits will be taking on the Gravediggerz for the third time this season. In their first meeting, the Bandits defeated the Gravediggerz, 40-18, at their home field, while the Gravediggerz returned the favor on their home turf, 26-22.
