Gravediggerz Surprise Bandits, but NY Retains Top Seed for Playoffs

In a surprise final on Saturday, the Paterson Gravediggerz ensured that every EFA team has a loss this season, beating the previously unbeaten New York Bandits, 26-22, in New Jersey. The win was the Gravediggerz' sixth in a row and put them even with the Bandits at 7-1 this season. However, the Bandits still retained the No. 1 seed for the playoffs by virtue of better point differential (the two teams split the season series). In their two meetings, The Bandits were a +19 in point differential and had a much larger point differential as well.

With seedings now complete, the playoffs are set. On November 9, the No. 1 Bandits will host the No. 4 Demon Knights (3-5), and the No. 2 Gravediggerz (7-1) will host the No. 3 New York Dolphins (6-2). The Bandits faced the Demon Knights twice during the regular season, winning in Long Island, 27-14, and in New Rochelle, 34-14. The Gravediggerz also beat the Dolphins twice during the regular season by scores of 22-0 on the road and 24-0 at home.
